Our story

Subtle. Not subtle. Art. Not art. Colours.  More colours.

Festive, colourful, abstract feelings expressed in pieces of thread that are meant to last.

We are THNI(pronounced "thu"- "nee"). Born out of our love for fashion, music, art and all things in-between, we aim to release small collections of everyday items that you can seamlessly add to your wardrobe, all-year, every year. We’re big on having quality clothing that last long as opposed to buying new clothes every other month. We’ve embodied this philosophy also in the way we release our collections. Every piece is made in limited quantities, and available only till stocks last.

Now to tackle a question that’s important to us and probably on the top of most people’s minds when looking for clothing brands to add to their wardrobe- how sustainable/environment friendly are we?

We’d love to say we are net neutral, that we are at the pinnacle of the sustainability revolution in fashion. But we are not. We are a small company that has only been in existence in the recent years, and we realize there is a lot of work to be done before we can start claiming abstract terms like above.

We started off with a few key criteria for our clothing that we would develop and improve upon with time.

Textiles/materials used: we want to only use 100% organic cotton or recycled materials wherever possible. Where not possible, we strive to get there. These should be sourced from manufacturers or suppliers with strong labor, health and safety and environment standards.

Packaging: limit use of plastic packaging in the short run, completely eliminate any use of plastic packaging in the long run. We’ve also made a conscious choice to not use tags and labels other than those printed on the clothing, to minimize our impact on the environment when these inevitably end up in the trash anyway once you choose to add our threads to your wardrobe :)

Returns: we encourage returns only when absolutely necessary(incorrect size, change of mind etc). Global returns contribute to massive amounts of CO2 emissions(around 15 million metric tons) as the returned product goes through a reverse transportation chain before it ends up with us.  We encourage all of our customers to refer to the sizing guide for each item of clothing we sell. The additional few minutes of effort on your end will result in a lot of emissions saved if you didn’t have to go through a return process in the first place.
